Here are some brief course descriptions:

French I:  French I introduces students to the four basic skills: listening,
speaking, reading, and writing. Students will be expected to perform these
skills at level I  and above.  Along with the Kentucky Learning Goals, we
will strive to meet the standards held by the National Standards for Foreign
Languages with emphasis on: Communication, Culture, Connections, and
Comparisons.

French II:   Students must complete French I successfully to enroll in French
II.  French II continues with the essentials of French.  The four skills will be
further emphasized: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

We will review the essentials of French I.  French II will further emphasize
French culture including the daily lives of French speeking people, what they
wear, where they spend their leisure time, what they study,  their countries
etc.  We will widen our study of grammar to include more complex sentence
structure and more verb tenses.  Students will read cultural articals,
childrens books, small plays, and more.
They will write at the French II level.
 

French III:  Students must complete French II with a C or above to enroll in
this class.  French III continues with concepts learned in French II.
However, French III is paced much faster and students are expected to learn
and use all simple tenses and several complex tenses.  They will broaden
their understanding of French grammar by reading it and writing it.  They
will read and write French at level III.  They will write letters, articles,
essays, brochures etc.  They will also be expected to speak French in class
excluding English as much as possible.
